Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes at CSM

June 4, 2011

After 72 years on Charing Cross Road, Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design moves to King Cross. John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, Christopher Kane and Katharine Hamnett are just some of the famous alumni to have studied in the legendary building, while the Sex Pistols played their first ever gig there. To mark the switch from one golden era to the dawn of a new age in fashion education, the ever-so-talented people at CSM made a tribute black and white film containing precious archive footage of CSM over the decades, with particular emphasis on the 60’s and 70′, that they debuted at the BA fashion show earlier this week.

With a little help from her musician friends Katie Grand, Love editor in chief, stylist and ex-St Martins student, might be planning a last party at the building, and VV looks at some of its archive pictures taken during our courses there.
